# Scheduled messages

> Schedule a message to be sent later and learn what to do with overdue ones.

## What it is for

You write now and the system sends at the time you choose, inside the conversation itself.

## Who can do it

Only the Owner decides about **overdue scheduled messages**: the screen says "Only the Owner decides overdue scheduled messages."

## Where to click

* To schedule: in the conversation, at the **Schedule message** icon (**Schedule send**) next to the message field.
* To see the overdue ones: in **Chats**, the **Overdue scheduled messages** screen (address `/inbox/programadas`), which the bell notice also opens.

## Step by step

**1. Write the message**

Type the text first. Without text, the button is turned off and shows: "Write the message first to schedule the send".

**2. Choose when to send**

Click **Schedule send**. Use a shortcut (**In 1 hour**, **Today at 6:00 PM**, **Tomorrow at 9:00 AM**) or fill in **Date** and **Time**. The time must be in the future.

**3. Confirm**

Click **Schedule**. **Message scheduled for** the chosen date appears.

**4. Follow or cancel**

In the conversation, a strip shows **Scheduled for** the time. Use **Cancel scheduled send** to give up.

## What happens next

* At the scheduled time, the message goes out through the conversation's inbox. The strip shows **Sending now\...** and then disappears.
* If the send fails, the strip shows **Scheduled send failed** and the **Reason**. Use **Dismiss notice** to remove the strip.
* If the message did not go out on time, it becomes **Overdue · was for** the time. **Nothing goes out by itself.** The Owner chooses:
  * **Send now**: if the conversation has more than one inbox, choose in **Send now via** which inbox to send from.
  * **Cancel**.
* The **Overdue scheduled messages** screen lists them all, with the counter (for example "2 overdue") and the **Open conversation** link. When there are none, it shows **No overdue scheduled messages**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Dates and times appear in the time zone of each user's browser.

## Common errors

* **Choose a time in the future.** The date or time has already passed.
* **Failed to schedule message.** Try again.
* **Only the Owner sees this list.** Ask the Owner to decide on the overdue ones.
* **This scheduled message was already decided.** Someone else already sent or canceled it.
* **Sent, but the channel did not confirm delivery.** Check in the conversation whether the message arrived.
* **The channel asked to wait.** The message stays overdue; try again in a few minutes.
* **The organization is blocked from sending right now.** Talk to whoever administers the account.
* **You are not in this conversation's inbox.** Choose an inbox you are in.
