# Flows: subaccount automations

> Understand what Flows are, where they live, and where to start: recipes, editor, and executions.

## What it's for

A Flow does by itself what you would do by hand: reply, tag, create a task, move on the Kanban, and notify the team. It starts with a **trigger** (something that happens, like "Message received") and follows a path of blocks.

It appears if the agency has enabled the Flows module for the organization. Without the module, the screen shows the module-not-enabled notice.

## Who can do it

* **Owner and Admin** create, edit, activate, duplicate, delete, and publish flows.
* **Supervisor** opens the editor in read-only mode and can test and run for a contact.
* The other roles don't edit. Anyone with the Flows menu hidden can't open the screen.

## Where to click

In the menu, open **Flows**. The screen has three tabs:

* **Recipes**: ready-made automations to turn on.
* **My flows**: your flows, with the status of each.
* **Executions**: every time a flow ran.

## Step by step

**1. Have a WhatsApp linked**

Without WhatsApp, the screen warns: "You don't have any WhatsApp linked to this account yet." Connect one in **Settings › Channels**.

**2. Start with a recipe**

The easiest way. See [How to create a flow from a recipe](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/criar-flow-por-receita.md).

**3. Or build from scratch**

In **My flows**, click **Create flow** and follow [Flow editor](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/editor-de-flows.md).

**4. Follow the results**

See the outcome in **Executions**. See [Flow executions and errors](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/flows-execucoes-e-erros.md).

## What happens next

In **My flows**, each flow appears as **Active**, **Inactive**, or **Draft**, with the number of executions, the last execution (or "never ran"), and the success rate. Use the search and the **All**, **Active**, **Inactive**, and **Trigger** filters. A trigger the system doesn't recognize appears as **Other trigger**.

The **Hand over to a person** block hands the chat to an agent or a queue. The record shows who the chat went to and whether the message to the customer went out. The chat is handed over even when the message doesn't go out, for example on Official WhatsApp with the 24-hour window closed or when the contact is on the blocklist.

Flows with a **Webhook** require a secret. Whoever calls it must send the `X-Webhook-Secret` header. Without it, the call gets a 401 error.

## Common errors

* **Failed to load flows.** Try again in a moment.
* **No flow found for "text".** Change the search or click **Clear filters**.
* **Pick a WhatsApp to manage its flows.** Choose the number in the screen's selector.
* **We didn't save: N fields with errors.** In a **Hand over to a person** block, the chosen person or queue no longer exists. Use **Go to block** and choose another.
* **No connection.** The flow was tied to a connection that was deleted. See [Flow editor](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/editor-de-flows.md).
