# How to sign in, reset your password, and accept the invitation

> Sign in with your email and password, request a new link if you forget your password, and open the Owner invitation or the links that arrive by email.

## What it's for

This page shows how to sign in to STChat, what to do when you forget your password, and how to open the links that arrive by email: the Owner invitation and the access link.

## Who can do it

Anyone with an account in an organization. The Owner invitation is for the person the agency named as the organization's Owner. If the agency uses its own brand (white label), the sign-in screen shows the agency's name and logo.

## Where to click

* Sign in: `/login`.
* Reset your password: the **Forgot password** link on the sign-in screen (`/esqueci-senha`). The link in the email opens `/redefinir-senha`.
* Owner invitation: the link in the email, in the format `/convite/` followed by the invitation code.
* Access link from the email: `/acesso`.

## Step by step

**1. Sign in with email and password**

Type your **Email** and **Password** and click **Sign in**. The eye button (**Show password**) lets you check what you typed. If your account has two-step verification, the next screen asks for the **Authenticator app code**, 6 digits. Once you type all 6 digits, it checks automatically.

**2. If you forgot your password, request a link**

Click **Forgot password**, type your email, and click **Send link**. **Check your email** appears: the link arrives in a few minutes and is valid for 1 hour. Can't find it? Look in your spam or promotions folder. To request another one, use **Resend link** when the countdown ends.

**3. Create the new password**

Open the link in the email. The screen asks **Reset the password of** that email?; click **Yes, reset**. Fill in **New password** and **Repeat password**. The password needs 8 characters or more, with a letter and a number, and both must match. Click **Save and sign in**.

**4. Accept the Owner invitation**

In the invitation email, open the link. If you don't have a password yet, type one in **Create a password** (at least 8 characters) and click **Sign in and start**. If the email already has a password, the screen asks for it and the button becomes **Sign in and accept**. If you're already signed in with the same email, just click **Accept invite**. Then you continue to the first week.

**5. Open the access link**

Sign-up, invitation, and email access links open an **Open your account** screen. Click **Continue** to confirm. For invitations and password resets, the next step is creating the password.

## What happens next

After signing in, you land in the chats. After the Owner invitation, the screen continues to the [first week](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/primeira-semana.md). When you change your password, you sign in with the new one right away. Dates and times appear in your browser's time zone.

## Common errors

* **Incorrect email or password.**: check them and try again, or use **Forgot password**.
* **Confirm your email before signing in.**: use **Resend confirmation**.
* **Too many attempts. Wait a moment and try again.**
* **Connection failed. Check your internet and try again.**
* **This link has expired**: the reset link is valid for 1 hour and can only be used once. Use **Request another link**.
* **Open the link in the same browser**: for security, the reset link only works in the browser and at the address where you requested it.
* **This invitation has expired**: the invitation link is valid for 7 days and works only once. Ask the agency for another one. If you already created the password, use **I already have a password, sign in**.
* **This invite is for another email**: you're signed in with a different account. Use **Sign out and continue**.
* **Invalid or expired code.**: type the code the app shows right now; it changes every 30 seconds.
