# Contacts

> See the list of people who have already talked to you, search, filter, and open each person's record.

## What it is for

**Contacts** is the whole organization's address book, independent of WhatsApp. Contacts arrive on their own with WhatsApp and Instagram chats. You can also import a spreadsheet or create them one by one.

## Who can use it

* See the list: anyone with access to the screen. People who only see their own customers see only the contacts that are theirs.
* **New contact**: anyone with access to the Contacts screen.
* **Import contacts via CSV**: by default, every role except Operator. The Operator can only import if the Admin enables that capability. See [How to import contacts from a CSV](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/importar-contatos-csv.md). To bring contacts, pipeline, and tags from another system, see [How to bring contacts from another system](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/trazer-contatos-de-outro-sistema.md).
* If you see **No access to this module**, your role doesn't have this screen. Talk to whoever manages the organization.

## Where to click

In the menu, open **Contacts**. The screen has three parts.

* **Gray sidebar**: the total ("N in the organization"), the **All**, **People**, and **Groups** buttons, the **Saved views**, and the **Segments** section (with **Blocklist**, **Blocked**, **Archived**, and **New segment**).
* **List**: the **All contacts** title with the count, the **New contact** and **Import contacts via CSV** icons, the search, and the filters.
* **Record**: when you click a contact, their record opens beside the list. See [Contact record](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/ficha-do-contato.md).

## Step by step

**1. Search**

Type in the **Search name, phone, email…** field. The list filters as you type. If nothing shows up, the screen displays **Nothing found** and **Try another term**.

**2. Filter**

Use the filters below the search, such as **Type** (**Individual**, **Company**, **No type**), **State and city**, and **Do not disturb**. Each active filter becomes a chip with an X. Click **Clear** to remove them all.

**3. Save the view**

With the filters ready, use **Save view** under **Saved views**. Give it a name. Owners, Admins, and Supervisors can check **Share with the team**. The view comes back with one click.

**4. Select several**

Click a contact's photo to select it. **Shift+click** selects a range. The bulk actions panel appears: tags, owner, export CSV, create deal, archive, and delete. The Operator sees **Ask a supervisor** on some actions.

**5. Create a contact**

Click the **New contact** icon. Only the name and a phone or email are required.

## What happens next

* One click on a row opens the record beside the list.
* When there are **possible duplicates**, a notice appears below the search with **Review**. Nothing is merged without your confirmation.
* **Archived** contacts leave the list, the search, and broadcasts, but chats and history stay. They appear under **Archived**.
* The list loads more contacts as you scroll: **Showing X of Y**.

## Common errors

* **Error loading** / **Could not load contacts right now. Check your connection and try again.** Click **Try again**.
* **No contacts match these filters**: click **Clear filters**.
* **A view with this name already exists.** Choose another name.
* **Module not enabled for this organization.** Talk to the agency.
