# Lead scoring

> Create rules that add points when a contact shows interest, to sort the list and trigger automations.

## What it is for

You give a contact points when they show interest. The [Contacts](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/contatos.md) list sorts by points, and the **Score went above** trigger starts automations.

## Who can do it

Everyone sees the tab. Only Owner and Admin create and edit rules; everyone else sees the screen with a lock ("Only the Owner and Admins edit the rules.").

## Where to click

**Settings › Organization › Lead scoring**.

## Step by step

**1. Start from a template**

With no rules, the screen shows **No rules yet** and some suggestions. Click **Use** on one of them, or click **Add rule**.

**2. Choose the event**

Under **When**: **Replied to a message**, **Got the tag**, **Submitted the form**, **Deal entered the stage** or **Clicked the link**. For the middle three, also choose **Which** (tag, form or pipeline › stage).

**3. Set the points and how long they last**

Type the **Points** and, under **valid for**, choose **Always** or a number of days.

**4. Save**

Click **Save**. Afterward, the **Rule active** switch turns the rule on and off.

## What happens next

A contact's points are the sum of the rules that still apply. Changing a rule only applies to what happens from now on. To remove a rule, use **Delete rule**.

## Common errors

* **Points from −1000 to 1000, not zero.**
* **Choose which (tag, form or stage).**
* **Couldn't save the rule. Nothing was changed.**
* **Only the Owner or an Admin edits the rules.**
* **Lead scoring is not available yet.**
* **Couldn't load the rules. Try again.**
