# How to adjust your profile, notifications and appearance

> In Settings › You, change your photo, choose the alert sound, the language and the screen theme.

## What it is for

The **You** area, inside **Settings**, holds the choices that apply only to you: photo, how you get notified, language and screen theme. Whatever you change here does not change anything for the rest of the team.

## Who can do it

Everyone who uses the app: Owner, Admin, Supervisor and Operator. Each person changes only their own choices. Name and email are managed by the agency, in the portal, and appear as read-only.

## Where to click

In the menu, open **Settings** and go into the **You** area. The items are **Profile**, **Notifications**, **Security**, **Signature**, **Language** and **Appearance**. If you prefer, use the **Search settings…** box and type, for example, "sound". The **User menu** also has **Profile Settings**.

## Step by step

**1. Change your photo and check your presence**

In **Profile**, on the **Photo and name** card, click **Change photo** and choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP image of up to 2 MB. Then click **Save profile**. To go back without saving, use **Discard**; to remove the photo, use **Remove photo**. Further down, under **Presence**, choose **Online**, **Away** or **Offline**. When Away, you do not receive new conversations from the queue and your current ones stay with you. When Offline, you are out of service and appear as offline to the team.

**2. Choose the alert sound**

In **Notifications**, turn on **Play sound on new message** and, under **Choose the sound**, click one of the options: ICQ, MSN, iPhone, WhatsApp or WhatsApp Web. When you click, the sound plays as a preview. The sound works while the app is open.

**3. Adjust alerts by type**

In the **Notifications by type** table, each type of alert has three switches: **In the notification center**, **Sound** and **Browser**. Turn them on or off as you like. A switch that cannot be changed shows **Always enabled**. Each change shows **Saved**. Under **Call sounds**, turn **Play sounds during the call** on or off.

**4. Choose the language**

In **Language**, under **Interface language**, click **Português (Brasil)**, **English** or **Español**. The screen changes right away and the language is saved on your profile. Just below, **Notification language** sets the language of emails and alerts; choose one and click **Save**. It does not change the screen language.

**5. Choose the theme**

In **Appearance**, choose **Light**, **Dark** or **System**. System follows your computer's light or dark setting.

## What happens next

* Your photo and name appear in your internal identification in conversations. If **Signature** is on, your name is also added at the start of the text sent to the customer over WhatsApp. In **Signature** there are two switches: **Show my identification internally** and **Sign messages sent to the customer**, with a preview of what the customer receives.
* The theme applies to you, in this browser, and changes right away.
* In **Security**, you can turn on **Two-step verification** with an authenticator app. STChat does not generate recovery codes; that is why the screen suggests adding a second app.

## Common errors

* **Image too large** or **Select an image file.**: choose a smaller image file.
* **Failed to save the profile.**: try again. If it keeps happening, tell the agency.
* **Failed to save notifications**: the change was not saved. Click the switch again.
* **Your browser is blocking notifications. Allow them in the site settings.**: the browser alert does not show while the block is active.
* **Couldn't save. Please try again.**: appears when saving the notification language.
* **Presence unavailable right now**: the rest of the profile works; try again later.
