# Where to start

> Pick your role and follow the path: agency owner, agency admin, subaccount owner or admin, or operator.

## What it is for

STChat has two areas: the **agency portal** (portal.stchat.app), where the agency looks after its clients, and the **app** (app.stchat.app), where each organization handles its chats. This page points to the right path for each role.

## Who can do it

Anyone. Pick the path that matches your role. If you do not know which one is yours, open **Settings** in the app: the line at the top shows "your role". Unfamiliar terms are in the [Glossary](https://docs.stchat.app/en/comece/glossario.md).

## Where to click

Follow the links in each path below. They open the Help Center pages, in the suggested order.

## Step by step

**1. I am an agency owner**

You use the portal. Start with the [Agency first steps](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/primeiros-passos.md): sign-up, email confirmation and choosing a plan. Then see [Choose a plan](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/escolher-plano.md), [How to create an organization](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/criar-organizacao.md) for your first client and [How to link an instance](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/vincular-instancia.md). **2. I am an agency admin**

You also use the portal, but billing and deleting the agency belong to the Owner. Start with [Today and the agency dashboard](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/hoje-e-painel-da-agencia.md). **3. I am a subaccount owner or admin**

You use the app. If you received an invite by email, start with [How to sign in, reset your password and accept the invite](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/entrar-e-recuperar-senha.md). Then follow the [First week](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/primeira-semana.md): connect WhatsApp, bring in contacts, turn on automatic replies, create a link and answer your first chat. To organize the team, see [Organization settings](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/ajustes-da-organizacao.md) and [Subaccount users and permissions](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/usuarios-e-permissoes-da-subconta.md).

**4. I am an operator**

You handle the chats. Sign in through the page [How to sign in, reset your password and accept the invite](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/entrar-e-recuperar-senha.md). Set your photo, sound and language in [Profile, notifications and appearance](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/ajustes-perfil-e-notificacoes.md). Then learn to [reply to a chat](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/responder-conversas.md) and to [assign, transfer and resolve](https://docs.stchat.app/en/subcontas/atribuir-e-resolver.md).

## What happens next

Each path ends in an organization ready to handle chats: with a plan chosen, an instance linked and WhatsApp connected. The agency decides which modules appear for each organization. If an item does not show in your menu, the module may be turned off; see [How to enable modules](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/liberar-modulos.md).

## Common errors

* **You don't have access to this area**: your role does not open that Settings screen. Ask the Owner or an Admin.
* **No access to this module**: the module is not enabled for your profile. Talk to whoever manages the organization.
* **This invitation has expired**: the link is valid for 7 days. Ask the agency for a new one.
* **The first week is done by the Owner or an Admin**: the operator keeps answering chats.
