# Users and roles

> How the agency team and the clients' users are created, what the roles are, and what happens when you remove someone.

There are two groups of people: the agency team, who use the portal, and the users of each organization, who use STChat day to day.

## Agency team

On **Agency team**, the Owner or an Admin adds the person and sets the initial password. There is no email invite. The roles in the portal are:

| Role | What they can do |
| - | - |
| Owner | Everything, including billing, Stripe, and deleting the agency. There is one per agency. |
| Agency admin | Clients, plans, brand, and team. |

On first sign-in, the person creates their own password. You can also reset the password, suspend, reactivate, or remove a member. A suspended person can no longer sign in to the portal, and nothing is deleted.

## Users of an organization

The **Users** overview in the portal is for reference only: it separates the agency team from the clients' people. A user comes to exist in two ways.

### The agency creates the user

In the portal, open the organization and use **Users › Create user**. Enter the name, email, and a password of at least 8 characters. No email is sent: give the person the sign-in address, the email, and the password. The password is shown only once, when you create it. If the person forgets it, use **Resend password email** in the person's menu.

If the email already has an STChat account, the person gets access to the organization with the password they already use. No password is created or changed.

The organization's plan sets how many users it can have. When the limit is reached, the portal tells you to upgrade the plan or remove someone.

### The client invites from the organization

In the organization's STChat, under **Settings › Organization › Members**, the Owner invites by email. The invite is valid for 7 days. When the agency allows it, the Admin also invites, changes roles, and removes people, always up to their own role. If the agency has not allowed it, the screen says the team is managed by the agency.

## Roles in the organization

| Role | What they can do |
| - | - |
| Owner | Sees everything. Only changes through the **Make Owner** action. |
| Admin | Everything in the organization, except Owner and billing. |
| Supervisor | Sees the team and conversations, without changing settings. |
| Operator | Handles the inboxes and wallets they are given. |

The organization's **Interface** screen hides the items the profile cannot use.

## Open as client

In the organization, **Open as client** opens STChat in read-only mode. The access is recorded in the audit log and is visible to the client.

## Remove a member

Removing a member only takes away their access to that organization. The person's account and their access to other organizations stay as they were.

## Delete an organization

An organization cannot delete itself, and the Owner and Admin cannot delete their own account either. The agency deletes the organization, in the portal. See [How to delete an organization](https://docs.stchat.app/en/agencias/excluir-organizacao.md).
