# How to invite organization users

> How a client's Owner and users get in: the Owner invite, user creation by the agency, and an invite sent by the Owner in the app.

## What it is for

Each organization has its own Owner and its own team. There are three ways for a person to join: the Owner invite (sent when the client is created), user creation by the agency, and an invite sent by the Owner in the app.

## Who can do it

The agency creates users and resends the Owner invite in the portal. In **Users** (the overview), the agency does not invite: the screen is for looking things up and for **Resend access**. The organization's Owner and Admin manage the team in the app only when the agency allowed it (in the organization's **Interface** tab, the option "Client manages its own team"). If it did not, the app says the agency manages the team.

## Where to click

In the portal, open the organization and use the **Users** tab. The **Owner access** card is in the organization's **Summary**.

## Step by step

### Owner invite

**1. Send it in step 4 of New client**

Under **Owner invite**, choose WhatsApp, email or just copy the link. The link is valid for 7 days and works only once.

**2. The owner opens the link**

They see "Welcome!", create a password and click **Sign in and start**. Someone who already has a STChat login signs in with their current password and accepts the invite.

**3. Follow along**

In the **Owner access** card you see Sent, Opened and Accepted. Use **Resend via WhatsApp**, **By email** or **Copy link**. A new send creates a new link, and the previous one stops working.

### Create a user from the agency

**1. Open Users**

In the organization, go to the **Users** tab and click **Create user**.

**2. Fill in the details**

Enter **Name**, **Email** and **Password** (at least 8 characters). Use **Generate strong password** if you like.

**3. Pass along the access**

No email is sent. Copy the address, email and password with **Copy access** and give them to the person. The password is shown only once.

For someone who already works in another of your organizations, use **Add existing**: the person signs in with the password they already use.

### Invite sent by the Owner in the app

In the app, the Owner uses **Invite person**, enters the email and the role (Admin, Supervisor or Agent) and clicks **Send invite**. The email invite is valid for 7 days. The recipient opens the link and uses **Accept invitation**.

## What happens next

The person appears in the list with their role and the instances they have access to. In the **Users** tab you can also change the role, resend the password email and remove them from the organization. Removing only takes away access to that organization.

## Common errors

* "This invitation has expired." Ask for a new one and send it again.
* "This invitation was already used."
* "This invite was sent to a different email. Sign in with the correct account." The person must sign in with the email on the invite.
* "The (plan) plan allows N users; upgrade the plan or remove someone."
* "Enter a valid email." and "Passwords don't match."
* "The agency manages this organization's team. Talk to it."
